Wondering how your horse is feeling?

Wondering how your horse is feeling? Where they are holding tension?

A quick and easy way to get an idea of what’s going on is to run your hands (using your finger tips) along these key areas:

✨Poll

✨Neck

✨Shoulders

✨Chest / Pectorals

✨Withers

✨Back

✨Ribs

✨Girth Zone

✨Lumbar

✨Glutes

✨Hamstrings

A great pre-ride/exercise tool to see what they have to say before they’re warmed up … horses don’t lie, believe what they’re showing you.

Watch the reactions of the muscles … if there’s a twitch/spasm/ripple/dip - there is some tension. If the horse pins its ears, swishes its tail, nashes their teeth when you go over a certain area, listen to that.

It’s all a part of the puzzle of keeping your horse happy and comfortable. Keeping an eye on how your horse is feeling can help address an issue before it becomes a problem.

The beginning of my session reports 📝includes the noted reactivity to palpation. This is a guide to show me where they are holding tension and what patterns we are seeing. Looking back on previous session reports can tell us if they are improving (less reactivity) or not (same reactions) or something is building (more reactive).
